What do you do when you’ve got a large living room for a young family and only a few pieces of furniture? You layer. And you have fun with it.
You add poufs, pillows, and bean bags because they’re comfortable and playful. You layer rugs in patterns and bright colors. You build a gallery wall of art and photography that features animals, desserts, and skateboards. And you mix in elements of pop culture on the coffee table to keep things feeling current.
I enjoyed decorating this living room with a chic pop sensibility and a playful spirit — this family is full of personality, and that’s certainly worth showing off. At the end of the day, a family room shouldn’t feel serious or precious; it should actually be the opposite of that. This room has a playful tone because, plain and simple, it’s where the family hangs out and has fun together.
This project was super fun, and I’m so excited to share it. Continue scrolling for a few more of my favorite snaps from this happy, colorful, pop-chic twist on a family room.
